It seems that Trasie’s response to loss was to split in two: on Sundays, she stood in the cemetery and wept uncontrollably. The rest of the week, she was the purveyor of a caustic wit, and seemed to take genuine glee in relentlessly joking about death. These losses, and the ways in which Trasie did her best to cope with them, still trouble Trasie’s daughter, Gladys, nearly a century later.

Induced Demand
- 7‑minute experimental short
- HD video

- My role: Writer/Director/Editor
This experimental short arose from an experience I had feeding fish at a trout hatchery last summer. I was amazed and frightened by their single-minded, insatiable hunger. It reminded me of the real estate market, and more broadly of the human experience, which I sometimes worry can only be quantified by measuring what we consume. I admire fish for their honesty, if not for their tact.
